DITO: Bahay ng Sining is a hip new place in the city. They have a small café with very comfy warm interiors with sweet smell of the freshly brewed coffee coming from the counter. They also have a cute gallery and a theater.
I came here to witness Gods of the Machine, an original work by Jay Crisostomo IV, also a Marikeno. It won him first place in the English full-length play category of the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 2010, and was part of the portfolio that won Jay the Loyola Schools Award for the Arts for both Creative Writing-Drama and Theater Arts in the same year.
God of the Machine is short play about a very lonely and disturbed male writer, played by AJ Constantino, who created a female character in his story and named her Gomorrah (Meyanne Plamenio). She was solely created to one purpose and that is to love the author. She eventually became more lonely than him, knowing that she is only a character in his story and that he could not love him back. So the author had no choice but to create a male character and named him Gabriel which was played by Arvin Trinidad, whose only part in the play is to love Gomorrah.
God of the Machine will have scheduled shows for 2014 on January 11 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. You may also catch the show on January 25 at 7:00pm, The show is rated PG-13 for some kissing and a mild scene that may imply sex. It was not offensive and it was done with great taste; definitely can be seen by high school students. Other supporting casts included Lily played by Tonibelle Chan, the Waitress played by Nikki Isaac and the Pimp played by Neil Tolentino. The show is being brought to us by the Shaharazade Theater Company.
DITO: Bahay ng Sining is situated right in front of the Concepcion Elementary School along J. Molina Street corner A. Guisama Street, Concepcion Uno. For ticket reservations, you may contact them at 0917-712-2321. Follow them on Facebook by clicking here.
